I made my AI slop public for everyone to ridicule.

It’s been quite a car-focussed week with a windscreen replacement on Monday and mechanical work being carried out on Friday. The windscreen was seemingly successful (although it hasn’t rained yet – always the optimist!) but the other work less so. I paid several hundred pounds, and came out with the same issue, cool.

The Nixpkgs core team has disbanded

We had friends visiting this weekend which made for a very busy time! On Saturday we visited Bolton Abbey and The Strid, and took a long walk up and back along the River Wharfe.

A few weeks ago the weeds in-between the patio slabs in our back yard were getting on my nerves. It felt like I was constantly out there trying to get rid of them. The previous owner had “decorated” the gaps between the slabs with little pebbles, but many weren’t fixed, just pushed in the gaps. This meant that weeding would pull the pebbles out with the weeds. It was big faff. And so I started weeding, and weeding. And, well, this is story of how I have now removed all the pebbles, and grout, between the slabs, and have re-pointed it all.

Zig Creator Calls Spade a Spade, Anthropic Blows Smoke

There’s some truth to the idea that language choice is becoming more reversible.

I’ve been thinking a lot of about this recently and this is true I think. Changing language is no longer the show-stopping activity it once was.

The technical improvements were ultimately a side benefit of this agentic rewrite. The real business function was publicity.

Terminal Widget

TerminalWidget lets you send output from commands, scripts, APIs, and Shortcuts directly to widgets across macOS, iOS, and iPadOS with rich formatting, progress bars, sparklines, and image support.

This seems like a very cool idea, if it works as it sounds like it does.

Andrew Kelley of the Zig creator comes across as extremely likeable in this interview. His thoughts on AI are also well reasoned.

Shutting Down EchoFeed – I was sorry to see EchoFeed is shutting down but for perfectly understandable reasons. I’m a casual user, and even thought about making something similar in the past. I will need to find a replacement as I was syndicating this website to Mastodon using it.

This looks very Mac-like and very fun.

Second outing for the pizza oven this week, and no disasters at all this time. Many successful pizzas were made. The trick is having a friend to tend to the oven.
